Strategic alliances have become a bargaining chip for many firms to continue growing. As the first step in this strategic alliance, the Fax Lists judge on leave Vicente Tovar joins the Madrid office of RSGM as a partner to direct the Criminal Law area at the national level. Tovar explains to Economist & Jurist that today “in such a globalized world it seems unthinkable that an office dedicated to business law does not have a criminal area that helps companies in different situations that may arise. If you want to grow you must have a Criminal Law area where compliance and money laundering issues are also worked on.”
In fact, it confirms the evolution of Criminal Law itself “which has gone from blood crimes and other issues, which also remain, to being more sophisticated, with the presence of companies that, as the Penal Code points out, can have their criminal liability as legal entities. Today, in the economic sphere, criminal offenses are well established and the line between what is legal and what is a crime is not always visible.”
